Es conocida por su rica historia, su importancia b\u00edblica y su ubicaci\u00f3n en el Valle del Rift, cerca del r\u00edo Jord\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta ciudad es famosa por varios motivos. Uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s destacados es su papel en la Biblia, donde se menciona como la ciudad que Josu\u00e9 y los israelitas conquistaron al realizar siete vueltas alrededor de sus murallas. Tambi\u00e9n es reconocida como el lugar donde, seg\u00fan la tradici\u00f3n, el profeta El\u00edas fue llevado al cielo en un carro de fuego.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Monte de la Tentaci\u00f3n, donde, seg\u00fan la Biblia, Jes\u00fas ayun\u00f3 durante 40 d\u00edas y fue tentado por Satan\u00e1s, es otro sitio de importancia religiosa en Jeric\u00f3.
